Universal is going ahead to making Ride Along 3, the latest installment in the comedy series with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart as the leads. Both of them are confirmed to star in the next Ride Along movie.

Ride Along and Ride Along 2 have brought in some $250m in box office takings on a modest budget, and it looks like the aim is similar with Ride Along 3. Tim Story, who directed the first two movies, (better known for directing the first two Fantastic Four movies) will be back at the helm for this one.

Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are in charge of the script. Says Tim Story, “we’re writing the script right now, we’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world. I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great idea”.

The release date and filming time are still unknown, though our presumption is that another January release will be targeted for Ride Along 3, as Universal had success with it for the first two movies.
