You’re probably familiar with navigating the new Apple TV if you’ve ever had a chance to use a Nintendo Wii Remote.

It’s been a subject of speculation for weeks, and it is expected that the Apple’s new TV streaming box will feature the new and improved remote with a trackpad. And according to TechCrunch, it is also expected that you’ll be able to use Wii-like motion controls where you simply point-and-click through the interface.

It will probably include physical buttons as well and a mic for Siri integration, besides the trackpad. It is also believed that the A8 chip that’s currently inside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus could find its way to the new streaming box.

And, what’s all this going to be used for? Well, the rumor is that Apple SDK alongside the App Store may finally open the gates to more third-party software – games and entertainment apps most probably.

These apps could probably be more powerful than those we’ve seen on mobile devices, since there won’t be any battery constraints and the developers can really push the resources of the Apple TV to its limits. So, the console-quality games might be possible very soon. The central digital hub for the home has been the long dream of many tech companies.

The new hardware is probably a Trojan horse for Apple’s television service, which is rumored to be launched next year.
